Photos of Santa’s visit to CSBC can be found on the Glens Guild Website
Due the the windy weather and low turn out on the Sat 8th Dec, the turkey race has been postponed to this Saturday 15th December, 1.30pm sharp. Volunteers needed for rescue boat and OOD. Good prizes up for grabs for both seniors and juniors so get the boat out for one final time this year!
Racing will be followed by Santa’s arrival at 4pm for the kids (and young at heart).
A great club day all round
Saturday’s race was a cold affair, with a gentle breeze always threatening to strengthen. The two fifteens sailed best to the conditions with Kennedy and Serena taking first, followed by Tommy and Roland.
Following the race we had a productive meeting in front of the fire and discussed this years remaining fixtures and made plans for next season.
Three races are scheduled during December:
Turkey Race – Saturday 8th December
Warning Signal 13:25
This traditional race is a great opportunity to win a prize in time for Christmas.
- 1st Prize : £40 Kearney’s Voucher
- 2nd Prize: £20 Kearney’s Voucher
- 1st Prize : £20 Cameron’s Voucher
- 2nd Prize : £10 Cameron’s Voucher
Bar Race – Saturday 15th December
Warning Signal 13:25
This is the last competitive race of the season which is followed by a sailors party in the bar.
Christmas Fun Race – Friday 28th December
Warning Signal 12:55
The team pico relay race will make a return over the Christmas holidays. Four teams of seniors and juniors of all abilities will be drawn from a hat on the Friday morning. Nominations for the team captains are accepted now so get in touch!
The captains have two jobs;
1) Ensure we’ve got a big turnout
2) Sort out the team fancy dress costume. (The costume will be used as the relay baton so some careful consideration is required, a mankini is probably not a great idea)
Hot drinks followed in the bar with the presentation of lots of fun prizes.
The fun race will conclude this years dinghy racing, however we have big plans for next year. We aim to start the season on Saturday 16th March with a team racing series running each Saturday into spring. Plans for this are already under way and we’ll provide more updates over the next few months.
This coming Saturday night.
Curry and traditional music.

Saturday 1st December Racing
Sailing this weekend has moved from Sunday to Saturday with the race start at 1.30pm sharp.
Weather forecast looks dry, cool and breezy. The perfect way to work up a deserving beverage in front of the fire. We need two safety boat crews so please let Ciaran know if you can help out.
After sailing, there will be an open meeting/discussion on how we can boost our dinghy sailing.
Turnout has been low in the past few weeks, so we urge everyone to get involved and share your opinions on ideas such as Saturday sailing, team racing, race start times….etc. All input will be welcome to help increase our numbers and get more boats on the water.
(Wee) Barry McCartin has agreed to take our Volvo Champion Club Training for Toppers and Lasers on 8/9th December 2012.
