Saturday Racing and Junior Training

Saturday 1st December Racing

Sailing this weekend has moved from Sunday to Saturday with the race start at 1.30pm sharp.

Weather forecast looks dry, cool and breezy. The perfect way to work up a deserving beverage in front of the fire. We need two safety boat crews so please let Ciaran know if you can help out.

After sailing, there will be an open meeting/discussion on how we can boost our dinghy sailing.

Turnout has been low in the past few weeks, so we urge everyone to get involved and share your opinions on ideas such as Saturday sailing, team racing, race start times….etc. All input will be welcome to help increase our numbers and get more boats on the water.

Junior Training

(Wee) Barry McCartin has agreed to take our Volvo Champion Club Training for Toppers and Lasers on 8/9th December 2012.

  • Toppers – Saturday 8th Dec.
  • Lasers – Sunday 9th Dec.

Training will take place 10am – 4.30pm each day. Sailors should be rigged and changed in time for 10am briefing. Do not arrive at 10am. Barry has many years experience sailing and has coached the Irish topper squad at various european and world events. Please ensure you make use of his experience and attend this great training. Sailors are advised to take necessary measures for the weather. Hats, fleeces, good gloves, thermal layers etc.

For any further details contact John Lowry.

Annual Dinner Racing

Due to racing on Saturday afternoon, there will be no junior training on Saturday 27th October. Instead, there are 2 cups to be raced for (under 13 and under 17). Racing is scheduled for 2pm.

As is now tradition on the day of the annual dinner, the Commodore’s Cup will be raced for by the seniors at 2pm.

The annual dinner takes place on Saturday starting at 8pm. Numbers have to be finalised by Tuesday evening so if you haven’t already done so then please contact Ann.

Youth Championships Entry

Below from RYA:

We are looking at getting a final push on entries for the Youth Champs over the next few days.  Entry closes (no entries on the day) on the 26th September (next Wednesday), so sailors must get entries in online.

If you can push and promote to all contacts and this weekend for those who don’t have their entries in.

Squad Application are also online on the relevant pages. (see news and ‘squad pages’ under ‘performance’)

Dinghy Regatta

The CSBC Annual Dinghy Regatta incorporating the Junior Regatta, will take place this Saturday and Sunday 8/9th September.

The racing format will be as follows:

  • Saturday 8th September
  • 1300 warning signal – 3 races back to back
  •  Food in the clubhouse to follow, with live music in the bar.

  • Sunday 9th September
  • 1230 warning signal – 2 races back to back
  •  Prize giving will follow.

There will be 1 discard after 4 races. Junior regatta will follow the same format, although shorter course and separate start. There are plenty of boats in the yard, so no excuses!!! Plenty of helpers also needed for rescue and race officer duties. Contact Michael McKinley on 07706521781 if you’re available to help.
