RBB Boats and Dinghy Regatta

Redbay Boats Trophy

The rescheduled RBB will take place this Saturday at 1100. A very short briefing and sign in will take place in the club at 1030 with then rapid transfer to boats. Currently the plan is to sail north on the last of the ebb to round a buoy placed at Murlough Bay – returning South for a course inside Red Bay. However the briefing will firm up on the course, selected for the prevailing weather conditions on Saturday.

As it is the end of the season, we will have Shepherds pie on return to the club followed by an excellent DJ (8pm until midnight) who will play music from whatever era you want. Please let us try and have a good turnout for the race and subsequent social – drinks for boat owners will be on me as a token of appreciation for placing a boat in the bay and thereby encouraging others to use our facility. It takes tens of thousands of pounds to place and keep a boat in the bay and the owners write all the cheques; the cruisers remain the hub of the club and it is important that the contributions and efforts of the boat owners are appreciated and acknowledged. So heart felt thank you from me to you all. I would ask you that you collect from your crew £15.00 for the RNLI – given the foregoing comments this would be a nice gesture from crew. We will present a cheque at the annual dinner (2 boats have already paid).

 Dinghy Regatta

The dinghy regatta will take place on Sunday at 12 noon. The format will be 2 windward-leeward races back to back. Please encourage as many dinghy sailors to compete as possible – spread the word please and I will send a separate email asking for volunteers to assist.

Thank you Andy

Junior Training

There will be no Saturday morning junior training for the next two weeks.

  • Saturday 3rd – Junior Regatta followed by RNLI day

  • Saturday 10th – RS Feva “Come and try” Day. McCready’s will be providing a number of RS Fevas for all our juniors to try sailing. The RS Feva is the feeder class for both RS200 and RS400 and has seen a large increase in numbers throughout Ireland in the past 24 months. Come and try these performance double handers. 10am.
