Boxing Day Cycle

See below for details of our annual two-wheeled excursion on Boxing Day. Weather usually dictates that we cycle the Coast Road to Ballygally and back with groups formed from varying abilities, so all are welcome.

  • Leave the club at 11:00
  • Aim to return by 14:00
  • Soup and sandwiches
  • Roaring fire
  • Showers available
  • Bar open all day

Please note the cycle is not being run by CSBC and you are therefore responsible for your own safety

Volunteers

The committee would like to build up a database of potential volunteers for club events and occasions. If you feel you can volunteer for anything such as safety boat driving (must be suitably qualified), marshalling, barbequing, dinghy launching or anything at all that can help with the running of the club, then please contact or pass on your details to John Lowry (johnalowry@hotmail.co.uk). John will be coordinating volunteers over the summer months and any assistance no matter how small or short is greatly appreciated by everyone at the club. Many thanks, John.

Juniors are all welcome to arrange the meeting

Owen , Noel - I can't make it to the meeting today. Obviously the core problem is simply not enough active dinghy sailors - no obvious solution there except to market the club a bit more and promote through local schools. In terms of the programme, quick thoughts are: 1. Move dinghy start times back to middle of day 2. Try to establish a rota of rescue and race officers in order to give confidence to sailors that "sailing is on" 3. Multiple short races whenever possible Yacht racing. Start race season earlier. Possible to get a few boats away to Scottish Spring Series? Maybe schedule a few 2-handed races. There is disquiet about h'caps!

One for the boat club or the cyclists?
